Quiz Nights - Friday 16th November & Friday 21st December

It's been confirmed that there will be two quiz nights at Edmonton CC as follows:

- Friday November 16th: Regular quiz evening at the club from 7.30pm.

- Friday December 21st: Christmas quiz evening at the club from 7.30pm (with mince pies and a glass of mulled wine).

To enter both quizes, you are asked to make a suggested donation of £3 per person, with all funds going to the Cricket Club. Anyone is welcome to come along, tables of 6 (although if you don't have a 6, don't be put off, we can always pair people up if needs be). Why not come along, the evenings are always great fun, and you can do your bit to support the club. Feel free to spread the word to friends / family or anyone else who may be interested.

ECC Bonfire Night Party - Saturday 3rd November

6.30pm, Saturday 3 November 2012.

Entry: suggested donation of £3 per adult - children free. Music, Food, Fun & Indoor Games, Raffle and the best view of the displays across Enfield!

If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize, please let us know. We would also be interested to hear from anyone whose workplace has a scheme to match money raised at fundraising events. Thank you.

Final 2012 Social Dates

Thank you to all of you who came to the end of season events and presentation evenings for both Colts and Seniors, and we hope that everyone enjoyed themselves. Congratulations to those given awards. It is important that we continue to try and raise money throughout the winter. There are some fundraising events planned between now and the end of the year that you might be interested in. They are:

• Saturday 3 November - Bonfire Night Party: fun for all the family, and the best view of displays across the Borough. Food, raffle and games. (6.30pm)
• Friday 9 November - Annual General Meeting (8pm)
• Friday 16 November - Quiz night (7.30pm)
• Friday 21 December - Christmas Quiz Night and Party (7.30pm)

Colts Presentation Evening

On behalf of Edmonton Cricket Club, we would like to invite you to this year's presentation evening.

The evening will take place at the club on Friday 28 September from 7.30pm onwards. There is no admission charge but any donations will be gratefully received*. There will be the presentation of certificates and awards, followed by food and a raffle.

Pleese could you let me know if you are going to attend by replying to this message.

We are also asking parents to bring a donation of food to the event, so if you are able to make a contribution, please let me know that too.

2012 Averages Updated

Thanks to our resident statistician Tony Brown, we're pleased to confirm that the 2012 averages have been uploaded to the website in the "Averages" section (see the link on the left hand side). We've included them in MS Excel 2007 format, as well as PDF, so everyone should be able to view them. A big "thank you" goes to Tony for compiling the averages, as well as all the captains that submitted their Match Sheets so diligently to allow us to compile these stats. There should be another update some time after the end of the season, which will also be mentioned here, so keep your eyes peeled!

Edmonton Olympics - Friday August 24th

A quick note to let everyone know that the Club are hosting a Friday Fun Night tomorrow evening (Friday 24th August), where you can try your hand at our version of the Cricket Olympics. The evening starts from 7pm, and everyone is welcome (members and non members). Hopefully see lots of you there then - as usual, there will be a full bar service.

Colts Summer School - Monday 6 to Friday 10 August and also Monday 13 to Friday 17 August

Cricket coaching for boys and girls aged 9 to 13 years, run by a fully qualified level 2 coach. Daily sessions on general fitness, batting and bowling techniques, fielding practice and positions. Wet weather activities included. Edmonton is Clubmark accredited and an ECB Focus Club. Booking recommended - please bring own lunch and drinks. Charity Skydive!

I've been reliably informed that Mary O'Brien is doing a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet on the 4th August. Her charity is St. Giles Hospice, Whittington, Staffordshire and she's asked for any generous ECC members (or anyone else that sees this) to donate whatever they can afford. Saturday 5th May

It's been confirmed that The Saturday 1st XI game on the 5th of May vs. Old Actonians will go ahead unless there is a significant deterioration in the weather between now and then. All other games are off. If anyone is available for selection for next weekend (12th May), please get in touch with Azid Sohoye or Alan Barnard. Lastly, a reminder that senior net practice take place on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm, and our coaches will be there to work with you and make use of both of our bowling machines.

There will be Batsman and Bowlers award for all senior teams, as well as Young Player of the Year. Senior Pre-Season Training 2012

It's been announced that there will be senior pre-season training / nets on Sunday the 15th and Sunday the 22nd of April at the club from 12-2pm - all members are encouraged to attend and to bring along any prospective new members. The training sessions will be coached / structured, and we intend to make use of our two bowling machines to ensure that all players get time at the crease. Can we ask that people wishing to attend are at the club and ready for 11.45am, so that we can start the sessions on time. Lastly, because we will be training outdoors, if the weather isn't good, you're encouraged to call Ray Dodds on 07722937335 beforehand to confirm that the session is still taking place. Middlesex Ladies at Edmonton CC

We have confirmation that Middlesex CCC Ladies will be playing two matches at Hydeside again this season, continuing on from the fixtures of the last few years. The matches, which will start at 11am are against Berkshire on Sunday 27th May 27th and Somerset on Sunday 15th July 15th. All members and non members are invited to come along and give their support to the ladies, and there will be a bar service and catering all afternoon.

February News Update

Can you help us? We need someone to prepare and serve tea to the senior players on Saturdays and Sundays during the season. Sometimes there are three matches on each day - that's over 70 people. We are interested in hearing from anyone who would like to do this, and we are flexible about how it's done. Wendy Owen

It is with deep sadness that the Club has heard that Wendy Owen passed away last night. Wendy was not only a great servant to this Club but a great friend. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time. It's been confirmed that Wendy's funeral will take place on Thursday the 16th of February at 11.45am at Enfield Crematorium.
